Adopt-A-Spot Program

Help Keep Our City Clean and Beautiful!

The City of Sherman's Adopt-A-Spot program provides you the opportunity to support and show pride in our community. The intent of the Adopt-A-Spot program is to encourage citizen participation in the beautification and litter clean-ups of designated areas in the community. Individuals, youth groups, garden clubs, churches, organizations, or businesses may agree to keep a designated area, other than a highway, cleared of litter and/or provide beautification for a period of one year.

Depending on the location that you choose to adopt, your group will receive special recognition in the form of a sign at your spot acknowledging your contribution or you can receive a certificate of appreciation after the first clean-up is completed.

How to get started

Locate your spot
Some of you may already know of a place where cans, bottles, papers, cups, etc. have collected: along a fence, in the street, on a playground or vacant lot - any littered place that has become an eyesore. Or a place that could use some beautification: flower beds, around momuments, markers and flagpoles. Neighborhood Services can also assist you by suggesting a location that suits your interest.

Evaluate your spot
Some locations or projects can be accomplished by one person; some require group action. Decide if you will work individually or organize family, friends or business associates to help.

Then take action
Contact Neighborhood Services at (903) 892-7230 to request an Adopt-A-Spot application.
