Municipal Court
The Municipal Court of the City of Sherman meets at 317 S. Travis in the Court Room on the 2nd floor. The court schedule is: - 1st Thursday at 6:00 PM
- 2nd Thursday at 2:00 PM
- 3rd Tuesday at 2:00 PM
- 4th Tuesday at 6:00 PM
Please check in at the Municipal Court window in the lobby of the 1st floor before going up to the Court Room.
Types of cases heard in Municipal Court include (but are not limited to):
- Traffic Violations
- speeding
- illegal turns
- running stop signs
- running traffic lights
- Violations of City Ordinances
- accumulation of rubbish
- tall grass and weeds
- dogs running at large
- Violations of criminal law that is classified as Class C Misdemeanors
- disorderly conduct
- public intoxication
- simple assult
- thefts u/$50.00
Fines must be paid on or before the court date in order to avoid an additional charge of "Failure to Appear" and a warrant issued.
All juveniles (16 years of age and younger) must appear before the judge.
All minors (20 years of age and younger) must appear before the judge on all tobacco and alcohol related charges.
A dismissal fee of $20 will be charged for violations of expired drivers license, expired motor vehicle registration, expired motor vehicle inspection (not more than 60 days), and failure to change name/address on your driver's license when proof is presented prior to the assigned court date.
